Terms of Service
Effective 10 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Tanishq Raj Mandowara, an individual (sole proprietor) based in Bengaluru, India, who makes ShortSmith and licenses it to you (“we”, “us”). They are ShortSmith's licence agreement. You buy ShortSmith from our reseller Dodo Payments, the Merchant of Record, and its Buyer Terms also apply to your purchase. By creating an account or using ShortSmith, you accept them.
1. What ShortSmith is
ShortSmith (called clipforge until October 2026) is Windows software that turns your stream recordings into vertical short videos with captions. You need an account, an internet connection for first-time setup and at least once every 3 days after that, and a PC that meets the minimum requirements listed on our home page (including a graphics card with 4 GB of video memory and 16 GB of RAM).
2. Who can use it
You must be able to make a binding contract under Indian law. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and is responsible for your use of ShortSmith.
3. Your account
- Give a real email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One account is for one person. Don't share it or resell access.
- Your licence works on one PC at a time. Signing in on another PC moves it there and signs the old one out. You can move to a different PC up to 3 times in any 30 days. Write to us if you need more.
- ShortSmith checks your licence online. If it can't connect for 72 hours, it stops making clips until it can connect again.
4. Free plan and Pro trial
New accounts get 14 days of Pro free, with no card needed. After that the account moves to the Free plan, which makes up to 5 clips each calendar month, with no watermark. Free clips need an internet connection when you make them. Each person, email address and PC gets one free trial. We may refuse or end trials we believe are being claimed more than once.
5. Pro plans and auto-renew
- ShortSmith Pro costs ₹299 per month (Pro Monthly) or ₹2,590 per year (Pro Yearly), including all taxes. You choose and pay for a plan only inside the app. You pay through the secure checkout of our reseller Dodo Payments, opened from the app. Dodo Payments is the Merchant of Record for every order: it processes your payment, issues your invoice and handles tax, and its Buyer Terms also apply to your purchase. On your card or bank statement the charge shows as DODOPAY_SHORTSMITH (charges made before 10 October 2026 may show DODOPAY_CLIPFORGE, ShortSmith's former name).
- Your plan renews automatically every month or every year, depending on the plan, using the payment method you saved at checkout. If you pay with an Indian card or UPI, your bank or UPI app notifies you before each renewal payment is taken, and the payment goes through about 2 days after that notice.
- You can turn off auto-renew any time: in the app, by emailing us, in Dodo Payments' customer portal (linked from your receipt email), or by cancelling the mandate with your bank, card issuer or UPI app. Nothing more is charged, and Pro continues until the end of the period you've paid for. Your account then moves to the Free plan. If a renewal was already being taken when you cancelled, we refund it in full.
- If a renewal payment fails, it may be retried automatically over the next few days. You can also pay it by updating your payment method in Dodo Payments' customer portal. If it stays unpaid, your access ends when your paid time runs out.
- A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for. If the price changes, we'll tell you before your next renewal, and you can turn off auto-renew before then.
- Refunds are covered by our Cancellation and Refund Policy, and delivery by our Shipping and Delivery Policy.
6. Your licence to use ShortSmith
While your account has access (Free, trial or paid), we give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to install and use ShortSmith on your own PC. We own ShortSmith and keep all rights we don't expressly give you. You must not:
- copy, resell, rent or redistribute ShortSmith
- get around the licence check, free-trial limits or device limit
- reverse-engineer ShortSmith, except where the law allows it
- use ShortSmith to break the law or anyone's rights
During setup ShortSmith downloads open-source tools and AI models, such as FFmpeg and llama.cpp. Each comes with its own licence, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.
7. Your videos and clips
- Your recordings and the clips ShortSmith makes from them are yours. We never receive them.
- You are responsible for having the right to use what's in your videos, including game footage, music and other people, and for following the rules of the platforms you post to.
- Captions, titles and edit choices are made automatically and can be wrong. Check your clips before you post them.
8. Updates and changes
We improve ShortSmith over time. Updates may add, change or remove features. We'll try to keep what you rely on, and we'll never take away something you've paid for without a fair alternative, or a refund or free time as our Cancellation and Refund Policy describes.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account any time in the app. This cancels auto-renew, and the refund policy applies to payments already made. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, commits fraud or abuses payments, after telling you why where we can. If we close your account without any fault of yours, we'll make it right as our Cancellation and Refund Policy describes: a refund of the unused part of your paid period within 30 days of the payment, and free time or another fair remedy after that.
10. Our promise, and its limits
We promise ShortSmith works as described on this site on a PC that meets the listed requirements. If it doesn't and we can't fix it, our Cancellation and Refund Policy applies. Beyond that, ShortSmith is provided “as is”: we can't promise it will be error-free or suit every recording. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer law that can't be excluded.
11. Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost views, income or data. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Keep your original recordings backed up. ShortSmith never deletes them, but your PC can fail.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Dodo Payments' Buyer Terms, which cover the purchase itself, have their own governing-law clause. Please write to us first so we can try to fix the problem. If we can't, disputes will be handled by the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This doesn't affect your right as a consumer to file a complaint with the Consumer Commission where you live or work, under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they apply. If you don't agree, you can turn off auto-renew or delete your account.
